45 # steel has high strength, good machinability, moderate cold deformation ability, poor weldability, no temper brittleness, low hardenability, and is prone to water quenching cracks. The strength of 45tt steel sleeve meets the standard, but its toughness and ductility are insufficient.
Ductile iron is a high-strength cast iron material with exceptional toughness and ductility. The mechanical performance indicators such as tensile strength, yield point, and fatigue limit of ductile iron are even higher than those of normalized 45 # steel. With its excellent performance and wider application range, it has been successfully used for casting parts with complex stress, high requirements for strength, toughness, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance, such as crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts, gears, etc.
2、 Differences in the Development Trends of Cracks
If there is a small crack in the material of the 45 # steel sleeve, it will cause the entire sleeve to crack along the small crack to the entire sleeve. When the sleeve made of ductile iron material has a small crack, it will not continue to crack, only the original small crack.
3、 Difference in grip strength of sleeves
The surface of the 45 # steel sleeve is relatively smooth, but the grip strength of the concrete slurry is weak. The sleeve material made of ductile iron is rough, and in terms of subsequent and grouting material use, the grip force is stronger than that of steel sleeves.
4、 The difference in material prices
The market price of 45 # steel material is 5000-6000 yuan/ton, and the market price of ductile iron material is 14000-15000 yuan/ton.
5、 Differences in Manufacturing Processes
45 # steel sleeves often use cold pressing technology, while ductile iron sleeves must be cast into shape first, and then drilled by fully automatic machine tools. Foreign countries, especially developed Western countries, generally use high-quality and stable ductile iron grouting sleeves.

Functional parameter inspection of grouting sleeve
1. Inspection of grouting sleeves: When packing grouting sleeves, maintenance end caps should be provided, the diameter and wall thickness of the grouting sleeves should be complete, the thread profile should be intact, and there should be no cracks on the surface. The product name, standard, model, quantity, production date, product batch number, and manufacturer should be indicated on the factory packaging, and there should be a product certificate of conformity inside the packaging. Every 2000 grouting sleeves of the same batch, type, data, and standard are considered as one batch. If there are less than 2000, they are also counted as one batch. 2% of each batch is randomly inspected, and not less than 20 are required.
2. Inspection method: Use a specialized thread plug gauge to inspect the internal threads. The plug gauge should be able to be smoothly screwed in, and the length of the plug gauge should not exceed 3P.

Principles for connecting grouting sleeves
1. The grouting sleeve joint should be set at a location with less stress, and fewer joints should be set on the same steel bar.
2. The tie rods (axial tension and small eccentric tension components) of wooden frames and arches shall not use binding lap joints.
When the diameter of the tensile steel bar is greater than 28mm and the diameter of the compressive steel bar is greater than 32mm, it is not advisable to use binding lap joints;
4. Within the overlapping length range, stirrups should be prepared: the diameter should not be less than 0.25 times the diameter of the overlapping steel bar. When the steel bar is under tension, the spacing between stirrups should not be greater than 5 times the smaller diameter of the overlapping steel bar, and should not be greater than 100mm. When the steel bar is under compression, the spacing between stirrups should not be greater than 10 times the smaller diameter of the overlapping steel bar, and should not be greater than 200mm. When the diameter of the compressed steel bar is greater than 25mm, two stirrups should be set within 100mm outside the two end faces of the overlapping joint.
5. The overlap length of longitudinal compression steel bars should not be less than 0.7 times the overlap length of longitudinal tension steel bars, and should not be less than 200mm.
6. Components that require fatigue verification: Longitudinal tensile steel bars should not use binding lap joints, and welding joints should not be used.
When the longitudinal tensile steel bars of reinforced concrete crane beams, roof beams, and lower chords of roof trusses that directly bear crane loads must use welded joints:
1). The grouting sleeve must use flash contact butt welding;
2). The percentage of joints should not exceed 25%;
3). The length of the grouting sleeve welding joint connection section is 45d.

Precautions when using grouting sleeves for connection
1. The joint must be tightened with a torque wrench with an accuracy of ± 5%, and it is required to calibrate the torque wrench with a torque meter every six months. Steel bars should be straightened before cutting. The cutting end face of the rolling machine should be straight with the axis of the steel bar, without any horseshoe shape or deflection.
2. The taper, tooth shape, and pitch of the processed steel bar taper thread head must be consistent with the taper, tooth shape, and pitch of the connecting sleeve, and must be tested and qualified by the matching gauge. When processing steel bar taper threads, water solution cutting lubricant should be used.
3. When connecting steel bars, the steel bars should be screwed into the connection sleeve along the main axis, and then tightened with a torque wrench. When selecting pre embedded joints, the orientation, standard, and quantity of the connection sleeve should meet the design requirements. The exposed end of the connecting sleeve should have a sealing cover.
